Rand Water’s safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) systems are aligned with the following international standards:
· OHSAS 18001:199 for safety and health.
Rand Water is compliant to this standard – This standard covers all the Occupational Health & Safety Management systems within Rand Water. Occupational health and safety of its employees and the interested and affected parties are all covered within this management system.

· ISO 14001:2004 for environmental management.
All major sites are compliant to this standard – This is the Environmental Management system standards. It ensures compliance to all legislations as well as caring for the environment in conducting all Rand Water activities, products and services.
· ISO 9001:2008 for Quality Management System standards throughout the organisation;
Rand Water is compliant to this standard:- This standard covers document control, customer complaints, procedures used and handling of non-conformances.
· And ISO 17025 for laboratories.
In terms of water quality, Rand Water meets the standards of the World Health Organisation (WHO), the South African National Standards (SANS 241:2005) issued by the South African Bureau of Standards and the requirements of South African legislation.
Rand Water is certified by SABS on these standards. SABS conducts six monthly audits to ensure compliance.
