UNQUALIFIED AUDIT OPINION FOR RAND WATER
Rand Water has received an unqualified audit opinion in respect of 2018-2019 financial results from the Auditor General of South Africa.
The positive audit opinion comes at the back of rigorious independent audit process and once again demostrated Rand Water's resilience and consistency with a solid financial perfomance under the tough economic climate.
LESOTHO HIGHLANDS WATER PROJECT TUNNEL REOPENED
The Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP) tunnel has been re-opened with water already reaching the Saulspoort Dam in Bethlehem in the Free State after it was closed for two months to allow for inspection and maintenance.
The replenishing of the tunnel started on 20 November 2019 and will allow for water to flow into the Vaal Dam, which is currently flowing at 40.2%. It is expected the flow of water into the Vaal Dam will take between 10 to 15 days.
Water started flowing into the Katse tunnel in Lesotho before the start before 01 December following the completion of all the repairs and installation of equipment. The flow of water paves the way for the transfer of water from Lesotho.
RAND WATER APPEALS TO CONSUMERS TO USE WATER SPARINGLY
Rand Water is working hard to manage the water demand requirements of our municipal and industrial customers in Gauteng, North West, Free State and Mpumalanga provinces. However, the current combination of extremely high temperatures and virtually no rainfall within our area of supply has resulted in high water consumption levels, which is placing a significant amount of stress on our system.
