Water Issues

How do I save water in the home?

A

Re-use the water that vegetables are washed in for watering houseplants or for cleaning.

If washing dishes by hand, rinse dishes off in a sink partially filled with water instead of running water.

Defrost food in the microwave instead of under running water.

Q

Where does household water come from?

A

Metropolitan councils and local authorities buy treated water from Rand Water and supply

it via their own network of pipes to homes.

Q

What activity in the home uses more water??

A

The toilet.
Plastic bottles filled with water and placed in the tank can reduce the water volume while maintaining a depth necessary to provide proper flushing velocity
