Rand Water would like to inform the media of the progress being made with respect to the shutdown of its B11 Pipeline.
Activity 1: Isolation of the Pipeline and drainage of the water
This activity commenced on schedule today at 6:00am and will be completed at 22h00 today. This 12km pipeline is 2500mm in diameter, from where significant volumes of water need to be drained. The draining of water will allow technicians to safely commence with the required cutting and welding aspect of the work. This activity is proceeding according to schedule. The isolation is complete and the line is being drained. All the required resources are on site i.e. valve, crane and required skilled human resources etc.
